49cents-- But her tears were Priceless

Early in April  while spending a mother son day with my 25 year old, we decided to hit every thrift store in Knoxville . My son Dakotah is a game nerd and loves collecting old and vintage games so that was what he was hunting for that day . Me on the other hand , I had no idea what I was searching for , it would just have to reach out and grab me and so it did . While looking in the book section , I saw this beautiful gem. It was a King James Version of the Bible , a Nelson.

I was originally going to purchase the Bible , just because of what it is , it just didn't seem right to leave it on the shelf at a Goodwill. So I purchased the Bible for a mere 49cents.

When I got to the car, I started looking through the Bible and noticed this Bible has been used , which is a good thing , and their were also names written in the Bible. I automatically texted my friend Mary Dale and said "I have our next find , we have got to find the owner to this special piece"

During that week I had gotten sick, so it was up to my bestie Mary to investigate the Reed family . She found most were in Birmingham Alabama , but it took almost a full week for her to find the one Reed we needed to find "Jasmine" Mary was able to finally locate her sister who lived in Birmingham Ala and through her sister she was able to obtain Jasmine number.

Mary made the text to Jasmine and the next day Jasmine called Mary Dale and was so surprised and in tears that we had found her bible. She stated that she had moved a few years back and some how perhaps through her young children the Bible ended up in a wrong box and she had often wondered what had happened to her Bible. This Bible was very precious to her, because it was presented to her when her father Henry Reed passed away .

Mary explained to Jasmine who that we are and that we have this new hobby or gift that we try and find the owners to the heirloom and yes she wanted it back .

Mary called me that evening and said "I found Jasmine" We have a road trip, she said you want to know where, its a long way away... NEPORT TN.. we just laughed because Newport is only half an hour away . But we didn't care, we knew how important this little gem would be to Jasmine.

So when Mary , Emilee and I met Jasmine it was plain to see that the 49 cents that was spent on the Bible ,was worth it , because her tears and smiles were priceless . She clinged to the Bible and she explained it was the week of her fathers birthday anniversary . For that moment watching her hug that Bible was just as if she was hugging her daddy .

Mary and I are so thankful for this beautiful new thing that we do , thus far we have met some wonderful families and hearing their story and seeing their faces light up to have that item back is well worth the drive to wherever it may be.
